Notes from the Last Meeting 12-23-09
Next Meeting is Tueday, Feb 2, 6pm (If school is canceled due to weather so is the meeting)
Cookie Information:
Orders must be turned into Heather Huter by the meeting on Tuesday, February 2nd. We must place the order with Council that night so any orders not received by 2/2/10 will not be ordered with the rest of the troop.
Cookies will be available for pick up at the winery sometime between March 1 – 4. Once we have the exact date for pick up we will let you know. We will need about 2-3 volunteers to help sort the cookies (date to be determined).
We have signed up for a couple of cookie booths: Saturday, March 13th 12:00pm – 1:30pm and 1:30pm - 3:00pm – Wal-Mart Middlefield Need to have no more than 3 girls at all times and 1 adult. I will supply the table. Let Heather know if your Daisy would like to work one of these shifts.
Saturday, March 20th 11:30am – 1:00pm and 1:00pm – 2:30pm – Heinen’s Bainbridge Need to have no more than 3 girls at all times and 1 adult. I will supply the table. Let Heather know if your Daisy would like to work one of these shifts.
Heather has a couple of other dates for a cookie booth at Movie Gallery in Garrettsville. Please let her know if you are interested in those dates too.
Questions: Contact Heather Huter (440.548.5930) or Amanda Conkol (330.298.7707)
Additional Notes:
Parents of 1st grade Daisies – Your daughters will be “bridging” to Brownies in May which means they will not be part of Daisy Troop 402 next year. There currently is not a Brownie troop for the 2nd and 3rd graders in Garrettsville so if you would like to lead the Brownie troop next year, please let me know.
Parents of Kindergarten Daisies – We will be continuing with Troop 402 next year. However we will most likely bring in next year’s kindergarteners to join our troop. In order to start getting the word out about next year’s troop, we have been asked to set up a table during Kindergarten registration this year (March 3-5). Would you be interested in running the table during registration?
All – I have been working with the Girl Scout Council to host a Financial Literacy Grant night at the winery. It will be on Tuesday, April 20 at 6pm (a non-meeting night). Essentially this meeting will be a way for the Council to get new girls involved and to sign up new leaders. By participating in this event your registration for next year will be waived. We will be focusing on registering next year’s Kindergarten class, 1st grade and 2nd grade classes. I will have more information on this in the next few meetings.
All – The Windham Juniors troop will be hosting an International Day on Saturday, March 27th. They are looking for troops to set up tables at the event with a theme from a country of our choice. If you are interested in participating, please let me know. In the past troops have brought food from that country, did a craft from that country or performed a dance from that country. I will have more details at a future meeting.
All – We will be hosting a district event at the winery on either May 7th or May 14th so girls can earn their stargazing patch. If you happen to know anyone who is great with kids and can talk about the stars, please let me know. If you are willing to help out with this event that would be great!
All – I know a few of you have asked about getting petals from missed meetings. We will have a meeting at the end of the year as a makeup meeting for the girls to receive any missed petals. I am looking towards the end of May to have this meeting so I will keep you posted on the details.
All – If you are interested in purchasing the Troop numbers for your daughter’s tunic please let me know. I did not include the price ($4) in the original fee list this year as I was hoping the Fall Product sale would have given us enough money to buy the patches. Unfortunately that was not the case so if you would like to add the Troop numbers, let me know and I will pick them up in February.
Next Meeting:
Don’t forget to have your daughter bring her book and wear her tunic to the next meeting as well!! We will not be reading out of the books (we are finding it hard to keep everyone’s attention) but we will be acting out parts of the book. I highly encourage you to read through the book with your daughters though so they can understand more about Girl Scouts.
